FAQ for Employers

Bachelor students are available for 4, 8, 12, or 16 months (1-4 work terms).  Each work term is 4 months in length.  

Post Bacc students are available for 4 or 8 months (1-2 work terms). Each work term is 4 months in length.

Each work term must be a minimum of 420 hours to qualify as a work term.

Work terms start at the beginning of each academic semester (September, January, and May).  Most work terms start within the first 2 weeks of the semester.

It is very common for our students to relocate for a work term.  We have students who have relocated across Canada each semester.

Thompson Rivers University campuses are on the traditional lands of the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc (Kamloops campus) and the T’exelc (Williams Lake campus) within Secwepemcúlucw, the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc. The region TRU serves also extends into the territories of the St’át’imc, Nlaka’pamux, Nuxalk, Tŝilhqot'in, Dakelh, and Syilx peoples.
